As the founding President and CEO of Ingram Micro India Private Limited (IMIPL), Prasad established IMIPL as a major provider of IT products and services with nationwide presence throughout India. Within a span of less than 3 years he grew the operations over 300+ percent with annual revenues now exceeding USD1+ Billion. IMIPL is in the DQ top-20 IT companies in India. As Acting MD for Ingram Micro Australia, he restructured the business and established a new strategic direction for the operations. During July, 2002 at their specific request Prasad returned to Ingram Regional Headquarters at Singapore as Sr. Director, Business Development, APAC and President & CEO for Ingram, India operations. He managed to grow the India operations profitably and enter new business areas including Software & Enterprise Solutions.
 
MIPL provides a complete range of products from Components to Complete PC systems - branded and its own brand “Vesta” PC's. Prasad was responsible for the launch and growth of global industry brands like Quantum, Intel, Microsoft, HP, IBM, Seagate, Cisco and Samsung for IMIL in India. Under his leadership the Indian operations has won numerous vendor awards from Quantum, Cisco, Lucent, Samsung, Tandberg and Intel. IMIPL also won Industry awards including Techies Award-"Best Storage Devices", in 1997 and Data Quest- Top Growth Company in 1999. IMIPL successfully expanded into computer systems, workstations, software, networking products and storage sub-systems with distribution rights from Hitachi, HP/Compaq, IBM, Sun, Netscreen, Xerox, Apple, Avaya, Cisco, Nortel, Microsoft, Veritas, NAI and APC.
 
Prasad launched his career at ACI, Santa Clara, USA in 1982. He held various positions at ACI and left ACI as Vice President and General Manager in 1988. While at ACI, he was responsible for successfully establishing some of the best global brand names in the India and Asian markets. The products he introduced include-Seagate, Cipher, Archive, Xerox & Adaptec. He was also responsible for establishing the Singapore operations & for establishing multiple offices for ACI in India and at several locations in the Far East
 

In 1989, Prasad Mamidanna founded Spectra, at San Jose, California, USA. He has been instrumental in rapidly growing Spectra into a significant player in the Semiconductor/RF components and FPGA/PLD design services in India. Spectra introduced and built successful business for many product lines including Cypress, Atmel, Lattice, Exar, IBM, Hitachi, Teledyne, Rogers and Transwitch. Spectra Innovations India Pvt. Ltd. (Computer Products Group only) was subsequently acquired by Ingram Micro in 1999 and was renamed Ingram Micro India Limited. This operation (IMIL) is now a part of Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services ranked No- 70 on the Fortune 100 list and publicly listed on NYSE with over 13,000 associates worldwide.

 

Prasad was the founder of Amspec (S) Pte. Ltd., Singapore, a distribution operation sold to Electronic Resources Limited, later acquired by Ingram Micro Inc., He established Specsoft Consulting LLC., a software services company with customers including Cisco, HP, Auspex, Adaptec, and 3Com. This operation with a team of over 70 plus consultants was successfully sold to Aptech International (now Hexaware) in early 1999. 

 

Prasad holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from USA. He has also completed executive management programs from Stanford-NUS and HP-APBA. He has over 23 years of diverse international experience in high technology companies covering supply chain management, operations, product marketing, purchasing, sales and strategic business planning.  He currently is the CEO of Specvision Global Holdings llc., which has equity interests in several companies in USA, Singapore, Isarel, Europe and India.
